Samantha Murray
Director & Assistant Choreographer
Born in Yorkshire, Sammy began her career at the age of seven playing in pantomime at the Grand Theatre, Leeds. She then trained at the Royal Ballet School and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In addition to her choreography and directing credits, Sammy has appeared in theatre, television and film productions such as ‘42nd Street’, ‘Carousel’, ‘West Side Story’, ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’, ‘Pacific Overtures’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Me and My Girl’, ‘Sweet Charity’, ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, ‘The Bill’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
She worked with Lisa Kent in Denmark as Assistant Choreographer on ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ and the recreation of ‘Miss Saigon’ for the Aarhus and Odense Theatre. Sammy also worked there as Assistant Director and Choreographer on ‘Crazy For You’, and ‘Me and My Girl’.
Sammy was Resident Director on the national tour of ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ whilst also playing Dolores and Miss Cashdime. She first worked with Stephen Mear as Assistant Choreographer on the ‘Millenium Stadium Show’ in Cardiff, which was broadcast on BBC Television. She then went on to assist him again in choreographing ‘The Three Musketeers’ for Joop Van Den Ende Productions in Holland.
Most recently she was Assistant Choreographer to Stephen Mear on the Rod Stewart/Ben Elton musical ‘Tonight’s the Night’ before joining the West End production of ‘Acorn Antiques’ as Assistant/Resident Choreographer.
